100. The City of 100 Spires Inspires

Straddling the Vltava River in the Czech Republic is the beautiful city of Prague where my Concertpiece for Clarinet, Horn and Piano will be recorded on February 25, 2026. The recording being produced by Parma Recordings at Studio Martinek features Radek Baborak on horn, Lukas Dittrich on clarinet and Miroslav Sekera on piano.

The composition of Concertpiece started with ideas from my composition notebooks. It was intended to be played with a clarinet player and a horn player I was working with at the time in New York. I continued working on it during a trip to Europe which gave me added inspiration. However, when I returned home the clarinet player had moved on.  The piece was subsequently recorded as a two piano version which was broadcast on a university radio station and then shelved. Years later when I moved to California I reworked and improved the musical setting of the themes using the added knowledge, skills and experience I had acquired since writing the original version.

The recording session will be followed up with a live concert, videotaping and album release. Please stay tuned for further developments on this exciting new project....
