67. Out of the Blue...
One day when I was home this week, I received a large envelope in the mail from The American Prize. As I had only recently submitted Dreamscapes: Five Nocturnes for Piano for the 2022-23 American Prize competition, I was puzzled by what they would be sending me.
When I opened the envelope, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Ergon Ensemble's performance of movements 3 and 4 from my composition, Blue Ballet Suite had been selected as a semi-finalist for the 2021 American Prize Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for the performance of American Music.
So, hats off to the Ergon Ensemble for their performance of Love Dance and Crossing the River from Blue Ballet Suite, recorded through an arrangement with Parma Recordings.
You can click on Spotlight in the menu at the top of this page to hear recordings of both movements which are scored for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and percussion. Thanks for listening.
