It's been a little over a year since I released my last album, The Presence of That Absence and almost six months since my Islands in the Stream Concert. Seems like it's time for something new, so in June I'm going into the recording studio, (courtesy of a gift from my wife Betsy) to record my next project entitled Touch and Go on a Steinway grand piano.

As currently envisioned, Touch and Go will consist of six piano pieces, the Gershwin Preludes, the Chopin Etude Op. 10, No. 3 and the Rachmaninoff Prelude in G Minor Op. 23, No. 5. I will also be recording three pieces composed by me, Collage, Rhapsodic Variations and a brand-new piece for two pianos entitled Voyage. Parts of Voyage turned out to be unconsciously influenced and inspired by Chick Corea, so it is dedicated to him.

I am thrilled to have an audio engineer who will handle the recording technology end of things instead of having to do it all myself. It should also be a lot of fun recording my two piano piece with me playing both parts, although I hope to perform it live with another pianist as soon as the opportunity arises.

I think the album's name, Touch and Go fits really well with the tribute to Chick Corea. It expresses how his music touched me and many others before he left to go play that great gig in the sky.

I'll be reporting on how the studio session goes. So stay tuned!
