87. Composition Workshop Concert
Updated: Jul 10, 2024

At the Portland Conservatory's Noonday Concert on Thursday, July 11th at 12:15, I will be playing 5 piano preludes I wrote early in my career for their relevance to beginning composers. I will connect the performance of the preludes with the workshop by giving a short explanation of each one focusing on the concept of inspiration, and music's ability to tell a story by conveying a sense of place, action and underlying meaning.
The pieces I will be playing are as follows:
Five Piano Preludes Based on Books
1. The Snow Leopard
2. A Farewell to Arms
3. On the Road
4. The Glass Bead Game
5. Tess of the D'Urbervilles
